Wendy’s trollololling around
The fast food chain Wendy’s has let an internet troll into their Twitter account and has created such a buzz, that people tagged them just to get roasted.
Last but not least: Pizza
Pizza Hut and Domino’s have long been the crowd favorites among the young social media users, especially since you can order a pizza on Twitter.
Domino’s even lets you order a pizza simply by tweeting the pizza emoji.
Pizza Hut, on the other hand, has used Kanye West’s fame by doing some tweeting of their own, trolling him for a while.
The fine print
Be really, really cautious when quickly replying to your followers on social media, and make sure you know exactly what you’re talking about. Especially when mentioning memes in your responses. Sometimes a meme, a trending hashtag or an image can have a completely different meaning from what you initially thought it meant.
Just like DiGiorno’s tweet using a trending hashtag which had completely different story behind it.
Final thought
Using social media to viralize your publicity stunt can be very successful, especially if you have a good idea.
Make sure you do your research before going into your planning, and as a good marketer, always know everything.
Now, remember our premise? What was the ROI for these actions? Have the above mentioned marketing agencies/departments actually managed to hit their target audience with these actions or was it all fluff?
