What are meta tags and why are they important for your website?

No CEO cares about code or meta tags, he has people on a payroll to do it for him. But no CEO can allow himself to have his website display wrong meta data.

What are meta tags and why are they important for your website?

And how do I go about adding these meta nerds?

In case you’re using a CMS like WordPress, for example, you can just install a plugin to help you out with meta tags. Such a plugin will give you simple form fields to fill out, instead of having to open up your website’s code and modify it.

A great plugin for that is Yoast’s SEO plugin, which will not only add meta tags to your code, but will also make sure other data, like the article’s author, will be added.

Pass it on

Make sure you verify your website features this meta data, by right clicking and searching for meta tags around your website’s code.

In case it doesn’t, notify your web developer, or in case you’re your own developer, and you’re using WordPress, install the Yoast SEO plugin!
